MISSION

Making sustainable theatre with the young generation for the future generation.

We collaborate with our ensemble to create environmentally sustainable theatre in order to empower the youth and prepare them for the future. Our full mission statement is divided into two main principles:

1. Youth. We provide services for students from the surrounding CPS schools and hope to make them excited for theatre and learning about the environment. We prepare them for working within theatre as well as provide a safe space for them to express themselves. We allow for professional training in an area that may not provide a theatre programs within their schools.

2. Environment. Theatre is not often sustainable. In its nature, it does not promote sustainability, yet it is produced in a time when we need green initiatives the most. We strive to teach environmentally friendly alternative ways of producing and creating theatre, especially to the younger generation. The kids of today will be the theatre makers of tomorrow, and we want to ensure that it’s done in an eco-friendly way through innovative methods.

VISION

Growth Theatre seeks to establish a home for local Chicago students providing a space for them to grow as theatre practitioners and as citizens of the world that surrounds them, both environmentally and interpersonally.
